There is often great warmth in many family-run businesses and Kim’s Kitchen, a leading meal delivery (or tingkat) specialist is no exception. The founder, Madam Tan Swee Kim, works closely with her son, Mr Clement Tiang who is the Managing Director while she focuses on menu planning and kitchen operations.This focus on the family is perhaps the secret behind their success. Madam Tan who believes that “cooking should come from the heart” also shares that, “Much care goes into daily menu planning. We instill a sense of responsibility in our staff to prepare only what we would serve in our own homes.” Indeed, she was so confident about her quality right from the beginning that she pioneered the trend of offering customers trial periods, a practice that was unheard of then.
10 years on and they are now billed as the largest tingkat meal provider in Singapore.The media has also given them positive reviews on magazines like Her World and on programmes like Channel 8’s ‘Good Morning Singapore’ and Channel U’s ‘Artist Buffet Occasion’.
